Well, it's that time of year again! COLLEGE YAY
I am currently packing because I am leaving for Houston in a week and moving into my new apartment(: Super stoked, but this also means that I am going to be taking a short break from drawing. I do have a few WIPs, and I will be sure to finish them once I am settled and back into the groove of balancing my hobbies & schoolwork. I Run...with BOOKS

Until next time!

Hello, so it is almost going to be a year since when I first started Deviantart!
I wanted to ask you guys a few questions to help me better run my account and it would mean a lot to me if you could give me some feedback! You can be as simple or specific as you would like.

1. Do you like that I respond to your comments, even if it's really simple (like "Thanks"), or do you find it redundant?

2. Do you like that I post my WIPs in my gallery, or would you rather I post them elsewhere, like tumblr?

3. I intended this account to be just Avatar the Last Airbender fan art, but I have realized that I can draw and post what I like. Do you like that I am expanding my fanart?

4. How would you describe my style?

5. Any improvements I can make?

You don't have to answer the last two if you don't want to, but the first three are just simple yes or no questions. Thanks for your time! (:

What goes through your mind when you see other artists' WIPs and walk throughs? To me they look so straight forward. They have their perfect line art, their base colors, shading and highlighting, and then final details. It seems like a linear progression from a starting sketch to the final piece. Whenever I start a new piece, there are times when I feel like working on the piece helps it move forward to become more like the vision I have in my head; but somewhere along the line, I make a bad decision to color this or add that, and then before I know it, I'm furiously backpedaling trying to save the piece from being an utter and complete failure. Is it because I don't plan out my work as well as others, or does everyone go through this?

I say this because after drawing Luna and Ginny, I also wanted to draw Hermione. However, I just can't seem to get her face or pose right. So I decided to give my Harry Potter fan art some rest and pick up on my ATLA fan art.

I'm really excited about my ATLA concept, but again, I feel like I can't express what I want on paper exactly the way I want! Is this what artist block is? Because I know exactly what I want to draw but every stroke I put down on paper seems wrong. It's frustrating because I have my subject sketched, but figuring out the composition of the piece is literally just me drawing a few lines on paper (and my paper happens to be quite thin) and then immediately erasing afterwards because it looks so off.

Maybe I'm rushing it?

About Me Tag

3 min read
I absolutely love doing tags, and I thought that this would allow you guys to know a little more about me.
Enjoy! (:

1. Do you have a middle name?
No, traditional Chinese names do not have middle names. My Chinese name is Tianqi but I go by Angela, which happens to have the same meaning.

2. What is your Favorite subject in school?
I really enjoyed biology and psychology in high school, but I also love my art and graphic novels class in college.

3. What's your Favorite drink?
I love fruit juice, milk tea, and water.

4. What is your Favorite song at the moment?
The Love Club by Lorde. Whenever I find a new song, I listen to it nonstop until I get sick of it, then move onto another song. Usually they last me a good few weeks though! Does anybody else do this?

5. What would you name your kids?
I always thought Alice and Estelle were pretty names.

6. Do you participate in any sports?
I used to play soccer, but now I run and do yoga when I find time.

7. Favorite Book?
House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer is one of them. Distopian, search for identity, science fiction. Right up my alley!

8. Favorite Color?
Maroon

9. Favorite Animal?
Snow leopard

10. Favorite Perfume?
Daisy by Marc Jacobs.
White Citrus from Bath&BodyWorks

11. Favorite Holiday?
New Years Eve

Yes. I am currently a freshman in college

13. Have you ever been out of the country? if so how many times?
Yes, 2 times. I went to China to visit family.

14. Do you speak any other language?
I am not a fluent Chinese speaker, but I can understand it and some French.

15. How many siblings do you have?
2 younger sisters

16. PC or Mac?
PC, though I like both.

17.  What kind of phone do you have?
Iphone 4S

18. How tall are you?
I am 5'6"

Well there you have it! A little bit about me (:

Some updates:
There is a temporary hiatus on the Yangchen piece due to finals exams coming up.
The work in progess on my webcam is the most current one now (:
I'll definitely pick it up again once I'm done with the semester, and then I'll have all summer to take on more projects!
Good luck to anyone else taking finals and have a wonderful day!

Wow, I am absolutely loving deviantart..why had I not gotten one sooner?
I can't believe my latest deviation reached more than 1000 views..and I know to some people that's not a lot compared to other really popular pieces, but for a girl just drawing some fan art in her spare time..it means a lot! So thank you(:

Thank you everyone who has added me to their watches, thank you everyone who has favorited and commented..I literally read and try to reply to every single comment. I also click on every single profile who favorites me just to browse through other people's art..and then end up lost in a world of Avatar goodness haha. Seriously though, I love feedback and questions, especially about the fandom, so please send me more! :D

Currently, I am working on an Azula piece inspired by the song "Stand in the Rain" by Superchick, but I'm having trouble with the angle and her facial expression. One thing I have definitely noticed is that drawing fanart really helps me with human features and ANATOMY. Goodness, I know I still can't draw hands and it's really hard to draw crying people, but I'm trying my best, so hang in there! I have a list of projects I want to do, but if you ever have a suggestion, please tell me! It's fun to collaborate on a piece because ultimately, it is you guys who are viewing it(:

I just wanted to give an update (though I honestly feel like I'm talking to myself hehe) and thank the wonderful people who enjoy my art! (:

Until next time,
Angela
